Voluteer Trustees position

We arelooking for enthusiastic and passionate people to become volunteer trustees andbe part of our committee at Justify Move Dance Academy. The role is avoluntary position. JMDA is looking for people with noprevious/or previous experience of trusteeship experience or qualifications arenecessary. It is essential that you are passionate about the Arts, children andyoung people. You will be flexible and willing to help with a wide range oftasks.

JMDA is a community dance group, which provides dance classes for boysand girls from age 4+, young people and adult classes  in various dancestyles such as Street Jazz, Bollywood Dance, Creative Class for Little Movers,Fitness Classes - Bokwa Fitness, Strictly Dance Fitness, Belly dancing,Physical Theatre to name a few. We deliver community classes in HolmeValley (Holmfirth, Honley and Brockholes) and North Kirklees (Birstall,Heckmondwike, Thornhill Lees, Cleckheaton).

The total time commitment is in the order of 8 meetings ayear, along with various contact events and there is an expectation that boardmembers will see some of the work we present. As a volunteer trustee you willbe asked to assistwith few tasks (examples).

 

• Assist with the running of the dance academy as required

• Attend management committee meetings on a monthly basis

• Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of all children and young people

• Ensure activities are safe and health and safety procedures are followed.

• Support fundraising and business planning activities

• Ensure that equipments and costumes are maintained and are safe

• Organise events and activities to promote the dance academy within localcommunities

• Help to recruit volunteers and young people

• Any other tasks and activities that are needed to keep the dance academy runningfrom helping with the recruitment process and funding opportunities.

All volunteers take part in a full induction programme followed byopportunities for further training and development. There are alsoopportunities for volunteers to take part in life changing and challengingactivities within the communities.

 

Person Specification

 

• Previous experience of trusteeship is useful but no previous experience orqualifications are necessary.

• It is essential that you are passionate about the Arts, children and youngpeople

• You will be flexible and willing to help with a wide range of tasks

• You will need to be reliable and committed to volunteering

• You will be able to work as part of a team.

• Be open minded and willing to learn new skills and develop as a person

• You must be able to commit to a minimum of 6 hours per month on a regularlong term basis
