Summer Project at North Kirklees DANCE TOGETHER Project 2013
We are pleased to announced that we have received the AIN Grant from Kirklees Council and the Co-operative Community Foundation Grant to deliver DANCE TOGETHER project in North Kirklees. Performance will be on Saturday 29th June 2013 12.00-1.00pm at Dewsbury Town Hall.
This is a project with Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmodwike communities. We will open new dance classes within those three areas and work with children and young people an creating a dance performance and showcase the talents on Saturday 29th June 2013.
This project’s aim is to bring multicultural communities together through the art of dance. We plan to draw upon the rich cultural diversity that inhabits areas such as Batley, Heckmondwike and Thornhill; offering children and young people the opportunity to explore their creativity and hidden talents.
We aim to engage and establish relationships between these closely linked communities. We also hope to educate and raise awareness of how a multicultural community provides an inspirational place to live, work and play.
We plan to look at different cultures and explore them through movement. By creating small stories and journeys through the process the participants will gain dance techniques and performance skills which they will then display through a final dance performance.
This project will also introduce physical activity to children and young people throughout these areas. We greatly desire to produce a dance performance which will bring friends and families together in a celebration of their community.
Aims of this project are:
· To improve community relationships and promote a sense of shared belonging
· To create a participatory opportunity for audiences to be involved in the project
· To educate and inspire the young generation, enabling them to aspire to something and gain a sense of achievement

Performance on 29th June 2013 at Dewsbury Town Hall.
The Cultural Dance Festival 2012
The theme of this years dance festival was inspired by the celebration of the Olympic Games coming to the UK. We have received a grant from Co-operative Foundation Grant. Also thank you to all of the volunteers who helped during the planning and on the day of the event. We auditioned local children and young people, and found a wonderful principal cast of 12 very talented performers. The group were a mix of ages and sang, danced and acted their hearts out. These young people worked tirelessly to create a magical 40 minute performance based on the Olympic theme. The event brought the story of the Olympic Games coming to the UK alive, and celebrated the cultural diversity in the Holme Valley and engaged children, youths and adults in an artistic and creative way. We also worked alongside Holmfirth Junior and Infant School who came along to perform. The performance on the 18th June was very well received by a packed Holmfirth Civic Hall. And we also had the added interest by welcoming along our star guest, James O’shea from Paralympic TEAM GB. He finished 4th in his 100 breaststroke swimming competitions. Well done James. You were fantastic. Our dancers also performed at the ParkFest Olympic Torch relay on the 24th June at the Greenhead Park and again at The Paralympic Torch relay on 24th August. We can’t wait to organise the next one. |

This year we have delivered Educational Greek Dancing lessons for ks1&ks2

Everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves. Thank you to all of you.
WE also had a Greek dancing workshop for the first time at the HOLMFIRTH LIBRARY on the Saturday 2nd of June 2012. Sadly that was not well attended as the Diamond Jubilee Celebration weekend was on, however a few children who came said they had fun dancing and learning a bit more about the Greek Olympics.

‘Hidden Beauty’ is a project concerned with the environment around us and its natural beauty. The reason why I decided to call this project Hidden Beauty is that sometimes our busy lifestyle does not allow us to absorb our surroundings. Therefore the ‘beauty’ is hidden from us till the moment when we stop and listen to the sound or to look for things, which we might not necessarily normally see or hear. ‘Hidden Beauty’ is a collaborative project, which brings different art forms together: dance, visual art, sculpture, photography and multimedia. This activity is an interactive live installation and performance in art gallery spaces. The objectives of this project are:
This unique interactive live performance will engage the audience with the space and environment around them, and it will connect the spectator with the place as well as offering a new experience.
